Indiana James has been awarded three times at the SA Museum's Waterhouse Prize with the inaugural Peoples Choice in 2003 for his "Leafy Seadragon", Highly Commended in 2008 for the pelican "Hunker Down", and the Peoples Choice in 2010 for the wedge-tailed eagle "Restraint"
